Job Description

To undertake geochemical exploration and providing Technical Advice to the Corporation's CEO on development of proven ore reserves.
Appointment to this position will be on a Five (5) year contract renewable subject retirement age and performance.

Job Specification

Key Responsibilities
a.    Designing and managing diverse field-based exploration programs;
b.    Reviewing research proposals and reports on geological investigation and mineral exploration;
c.    Reviewing performance of geological contractors and consultants;
d.    Designing and execution of exploratory drilling to extract subsurface rock cores for sampling, analysis and modelling of 3-D geometry of the ore body to estimate grade and tonnage;
e.    Conducting studies and identifying growth opportunities to determine the viability of mineral prospects for profitable extraction; 
f.    Ensuring compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety Standards, including Personal Protective Equipment; 
g.    Providing overall leadership for the Division by ensuring daily business operations;
h.    Ensuring continuous capacity building, coaching and mentorship of Division’s Staff;
i.    Development of Growth Strategy Planning for Mines; 
j.    Evaluating performance and productivity;
k.    Any other duty or responsibility as may be assigned by the CEO.
 
Requirement for Appointment
A person shall be qualified for appointment as the Manager, Mineral Exploration if that person meets the following minimum requirements:
a.    Master’s degree in the following disciplines: - Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Environmental Geology, Engineering Geology, Earth Sciences, or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
b.    Bachelor’s degree in the following discipline: - Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Environmental Geology or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
c.    At least ten (10) years’ work experience, five (5) of which must have been in a management role;
d.    Management/Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
e.    Registered by the Geologist Registration Board (GRB) and in good standing;
f.    Proficiency in computer applications; and
g.    Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution.

Terms of Service 

Five (5) Year Contract renewable subject to retirement age and performance. 
Compliance with Chapter 6 of the Constitution
The successful candidate shall be required to meet the following compliance requirements:
•    A Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)
•    A Clearance/Compliance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
•    A Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
•    A Clearance Certificate from the Ethics & Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
•    A Clearance Certificate from Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
